abiotic characterized by the absence of life or living organisms.

adaptation a change in form or behavior brought about through natural selection.

autotroph an organism capable of producing its own food.

biotic characterized by life or living organisms.

cell the basic structural unit of all organisms, containing nuclear and cytoplasmic material enclosed by a semipermeable membrane and, in plants, a cell wall.

ecosystem a system formed by the interactions of a community of organisms with its environment.
