chromosomal mutation a change in chromsome structure

codominance when the relationship between a pair of alleles is not dominant-recessive, but both alleles are expressed.

incomplete dominance when neither of a pair of alleles is completely expressed when the other is present.

linkage the tendency for a group of genes located on the same chromosome to be inherited together.

mutation a change in DNA structure.

non-mendelain genetics principle of genetics extending beyond those of Mendel (the principles of segregation and of independent assortment).

point mutation a single change in the nucleotide sequence.

pleiotropy a gene that affects a number of different characteristics.

polygenic inheritance two or more genes that affect the same trait.

sex-linked inheritance the inheritance of genes located on the sex chromosomes. In animals, almost all sex-linked genes are located on the X chromosome.
