1. Be able to calculate the resistance of a piece of wire (or an odd shaped cork see ch27 P68).
2. Be able to calculate current and current density (from V or E) for moving charges.(ch 27 P9,10)
3. Be able to calculate the amount of power wasted in power lines.(ch 27 P56)
4. Be able to calculate the internal resistance of a battery, and associated emf( effective voltage), current, etc.(see homework)
5. Be able to calculate the total equivalent resistance of a group of resistors.(ch 28 P20,21,22)
6. Be able to use Kirchhoff's rules to find current through all the branches in a circuit.(Page 823, take your pick of problems)
7. Be able to calculate the time constant for an R, C circuit, and be
familiar with when the current is a max, and what the voltage looks like
across both the resistor and the capacitor.
Once again problems will be taken directly from the packet. Look at the practice test problems for 27 and 28, the practice final, and HWS problems II ( Ch27& ch28 problems are: 1, 4, 10, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19a,b,c; 20, 22, 24, 25, 27, 28.). Test has 18 MC and 2 HWS.
